Schwab Engineering worked as a sub-consultant to TTG to very closely with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to design a successful renovation and expansion project, while the terminal remained fully operational. This is the largest renovated airport terminal in the country to be certified as LEED Silver.

We provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing & LEED services for the project renovations on the TBIT existing building. Remodel included HVAC, enhanced lighting, signage, security, power, vertical and horizontal transportation, IT & telecom networks, fire life safety, new smoke evacuation system for the concourses & core building immigration & customs area, arrival areas, departure ticketing areas, security screening, checkpoint areas & airline terminal offices. Significant additions included an A380 type aircraft gate, an entirely new 6MVA in/outbound conveyor system with associated north & south matrix buildings, two (2) new 1500kW emergency generator power distribution system and point of use 400Hz system for the north gates. This project utilizes common user terminal equipment (CUTE) & common use passenger processing systems (CUPPS).
